When was the last time you saw one of these ? Plus in such a great colour !
Made from 1997 to 2006, the Xsara has a family sized xar that rivalled the Ford Escort and Vauxhall Astra of the same period, although the Xsara was consider to be quite bland looking by the press at the time.
Based on the same platform as the earlier Peugeot 306 and Citroem ZX, it was available in five door, a pretty two door coupe and an estate car. It had typical late 1990’s layout of front engine with front wheel drive and came in a number of engine sizes.
Looking closely at it, it kind of resembles the Citroen Xantia from earlier in the 90’s, probably because it was designed by the same designer, Bertone. I suppose you could call it a functional car, rather than anything else ! The same floor plan was also used for the Xsara Picasso, which was a kind of push me, pull you design which was an attempt to rival the Megane Scenic from Renault.
Maybe if we’d seen this car a few years ago we would have walked stratight past it, but because many of them have been turned into baked bean tins, it drew our attention. A 1999 1.4i version in piddle yellow ! Just itching for a photo !
Finally I wonder how many ladies salled Sara suddenly started signing their names as Xsara !!!!!!
