The Berkeley Enthusiast Club was founded in 1964 and was started up as the ‘International Berkeley Enthusiasts Club’ but the name was changed in 1967 to the Berkeley Enthusiasts Club (BEC). This was because the RAC Competitions Committee would not give their official recognition of the club with the International title because the club was only a on-car make club.
From the very beginning, the club was run with the manifesto of keeping Berkeley’s running on the roads. Initially this took the form of keeping owners in touch with each other, keeping a source of spares, technical literature and even helping to develop and update the various models.
In recent years, all 3 and 4 wheeled Berkeley car models have been recognised as classic cars and the emphasis of the club is now on helping members to restore cars to their original specification.
The old ‘transition’ period has not been forgotten however and the club has a contingent of members with modified cars.
The club has a majority membership in the United Kingdom, with many addition members in many parts of the world.
We encourage all those who have an interest in these marvelous little cars to come and join us !
