Wolseley 4/44

SRT 580

Year: 1954
Make: Wolseley
Model: 4/44

Event: Old Photos

When it was launched in 1954, Wolseley was part of the BMC Group (British Motor Corporation) so it shared many of it’s components with the MG Magnette ZA.

Fitted with a 1250 cc engine, it had a top speed of 74 mph and a 0-60 of 29 seconds ! Which sounds awful by modern standards !

It was built from 1953 to 1956 when it was replaced by the more powerful 15/50 with it’s 1500 cc engine.

Although called the 4/44, it had a bonnet script that said Four Forty Four !

This lovely old photo was one we picked up along with another shot of the same car at an old antique shop in the West Country.
