Triumph Roadster

Year: 1949
Make: Triumph
Model: Roadster

Event: Old Photos

Launched in 1946 with an 1800cc engine, it was an exciting new design car for the post-war world. Then in 1948 its engine was upgraded to a 2000cc, the same as fitted to the Standard Vanguard.

This 1949 model was photographed somewhere in London in the mid 1970’s and features a Ford Escort Mk1 behind. Also an Austin or Morris 1300 passing behind has the new MkIII grille with the single vertical bar, which was launched in 1974, which helps date the photo. Turning right behind is a Fiat 128.

According to the DVLA website, the car is black and is taxed and MOT’d so is still around. Maybe the owner will spot the photo and get in touch !

Interesting that we have a photo of KXD 50 on My Classic !

We’ve acknowledged the copyright to WH Photographic on the back of this old photo, but can’t find if they’re still around now.
