The original Riley RM was launched in 1945 and was made upto 1955.
It proved a very great success for Riley and was a sporty saloon aimed at middle management and professionals.
In 1952 the RME was introduced bringing the 1.5 litre engine from the RMA, although the body was slightly changed.
In late 1953 the RME was improved further, the most notable change being removing of the side running bars.
So we can tell our example here, photographed in Padstow, Cornwall in 2010, is an early RME.
