A superb conversion on a Riley RMA to create a woodie estate car and seen here at an event surrounded by other Riley RM’s.
Post war Britain had a shortage of steel, with every bit available made into products to export and bring in much need foreign currency as in effect Britain was broke after WW2. So many conversions and indeed new estate cars such as the Morris Minor 1000 Traveller had rear bodies made in wood, which was cheaper and more plentiful.
