The Taunus 12M is the third generation Taunus, which like the Ford Thames being named after the River Thames, is named after the River Taunus in Germany. Launched in 1962, it was the first front wheel drive Ford car and came fitted with a 1183cc or 1498cc engine both to V4 spec. With the 1498cc having three different power versions.

Our photo here, taken on March 12, 1966, shows the 2 door saloon model with an Austrian registration from Styria, a district in the southeast area of the country.
