Ford Great Britain launched the first Cortina in 1962 and then in 1966 the Mark 2 took up the baton.

The 1600E was launch in 1967 and featured a tuned up 1600cc Kent engine, which would be later used in the Escort Mk1 Mexico.

In fact it was a predecessor of the RS range in many ways apart from it had a four door body for the family man, who wanted to have performance car as well as a practical family car.

I remember a mate from school’s dad had one and he was a very enthusiastic driver, with his 1960’s open backed leather driving gloves !

Our example her shows the standard Rostyle wheels and the little red/white/blue flash badge on the rear pillar to demote a 1600E.
