Ford Cortina Mk1

CYD 898 A

Year: 1963
Make: Ford
Model: Cortina Mk1

Event: Streetscene

Originally launched in 1962 as the Consul Cortina, it paved the way for thousands if not millions of Cortinas that were to become a firm family favourite over the next twenty years. The Mark 1 with it’s familiar ‘Ban The Bomb’ logo rear lights, was a true Ford of Britain model and with it’s front engine rear wheel drive it made it cheap to produce and economic to own.

Our sample here is an early 1963 Mk1 Cortina which can be identified by the single side lights while in 1964, it was rebadged as the Cortina and new integral side light and indicators introduced.

On the back of the photo which we bought a few years ago, it simply reads ‘car before restoration’

If this is your car and the restoration is complete, we’d love to see a photo !
