When the Granada Mk1 was introduced in 1972, Ford decided to reintroduce the Consul name to create a lower spec, lower price model of the Granada.

Options were a 1663cc V4 or a 1996cc Essex V4 engine, or even a 2496cc V6 engine, which weren’t very powerful in this big car.

It was discontinued in 1975.
