Launched in 1956, over 370,000 saloon versions were built before the Mk3 shape was launched in 1962. The example here is an early 1956 model, so one of the very first models on the road.
Also known by Ford GB as the 203E with a 1700cc engine that developed 59 bhp which gave it a 0-60 mph of 23 seconds !
The Consul was the cheaper model in the range that had Zephyr and then Zodiac above it, and as popular as it was when the Mk3 was launched, the Consul option was dropped. Only to appear again in 1972 as a cheaper model to the Granada Mk1.
