Austin 1300GT    

The ADO16 design was introduced in 1963 by BMC and was badge engineered with models by Austin, Morris, MG, Riley & Wolseley.

In the mid 1960’s the ADO16 range were the top selling cars in the UK out selling all of it’s rivals, but by the late 1960’s/early 1970’s  the Ford Cortina was becoming more attractive and so affecting sales of the ADO16.

By 1971, the MkIII was introduced with the main distinguishing part being the new radiator grille with just the single horizontal bar. To attract sales from the sportier Cortina models, Austin and Morris both introduced the 1300GT model. It has a snazzy black vinyl roof, fake allow wheels and a sporty go faster steering wheel with holes cut out of the spokes, to save weight !

It also came in a number of unique colours, such as custard yellow, a flame red, white and a dark blue to add to its appeal.
