Triumph Herald 1200 Hatchback Prototype

FHP 644 C

Year: 1965
Make: Triumph
Model: Herald Hatchback Prototype

Event: TSSC/TR Register Triumph Weekend, Stratford Racecourse August 2019

The Herald 1200 was launched in 1961 with increased power of 39 bhp over the original 948cc engine, although the actual engine was 1147cc not 1200cc.

This factory prototype was developed in 1964 but never made it into production. Which is a shame as we think it’s a pretty nice looking car.

With an FHP registration, we can tell this was originally registered in Coventry, which of course is where Triumphs were made.
